2014 Export Flows
The volume of sugar traded in the world market decreased from a record 59.6 mln tonnes, tel quel, in 2013 to 58.0 mln tonnes in 2014. Exports from Brazil (-3.027 mln tonnes) and Mexico (-0.8 mln tonnes) decreased, while shipments from India, Thailand and Australia increased by 1.2 mln tonnes, 0.8 mln tonnes and 0.5 mln tonnes, respectively.

2014 Import Flows
Purchases from China dropped from a 2013 record of 5.6 mln tonnes, tel quel, to 3.5 mln tonnes in 2014. Smaller imports were also observed in Sudan (-0.8 mln tonnes), EU and Indonesia (-0.5 mln tonnes each). Iran left the top 10 sugar net-importers rank (-0.2 mln tonnes) and was replaced by Egypt.
